Carlo Nason

Murano, born 1935

Carlo Nason was born on Murano in 1935 into a family of glassmakers. His father, Vincenzo Nason, directed NasonMoretti and in 1941 founded his own firm, V. Nason & C. Carlo Nason’s first known designs, a series of mould-blown vases from 1959, are in the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass.

In the 1960s he left the family’s decorative production to work on lighting built from simple geometric forms. From 1965 into the 1980s he designed for the Murano manufacturer A.V. Mazzega, which produced many of his best-known lamps and pendants. He also designed for Vistosi and De Majo.
