A circular Italian dining table attributed to Melchiorre Bega, dating to the 1950s. The circular top is finished in a finely laid radial wood veneer, forming a sunburst composition.

The central pedestal broadens into a tapered conical collar before narrowing into a cylindrical stem. The wooden support meets a three-spoke brass base. The contrast between the warm wood and polished brass gives the table a particularly light architectural profile.

Melchiorre Bega (1898–1976) was an Italian architect, interior designer and furniture designer whose career developed from the Rationalist period through postwar Italian modernism. Closely involved with his family's furniture workshop in Bologna, Bega approached furniture as an integral part of the interior and architectural project.

Carefully sourced in Italy and restored in-house at our gallery in Rabat. The wooden structure and veneer were inspected and preserved wherever possible, with surface restoration undertaken only where required. The brass base has been carefully treated while retaining the original construction. Minor traces consistent with age remain and are documented in the photographs. Professionally packed for secure international delivery.
