A vintage “Swan” lounge chair, model 3320, designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, Denmark, circa 1966. Originally created in 1958 for the lobby and lounge areas of Copenhagen’s SAS Royal Hotel, the Swan is one of Jacobsen’s defining upholstered designs and is characterized by an uninterrupted organic shell with no straight lines.

This example is upholstered in smooth black leather, which emphasizes the chair’s continuous curving profile from the high back through the low, enveloping arms and seat. The molded body is supported on the characteristic four-star aluminum swivel base, fitted here with a side adjustment lever typical of early production examples.

The contrast between the compact upholstered shell and light metal pedestal gives the chair its distinctive floating quality. Viewed in profile, the rising back and sweeping arm structure reveal the asymmetrical, almost wing-like form that gave the model its name.

The Swan, model 3320, remained in production throughout the 1960s and period examples are documented with black leather upholstery and height-adjustable four-star aluminum bases.

Carefully restored in-house at our gallery in Rabat, with the original form and aluminum base preserved wherever possible. The leather and metal surfaces retain minor traces consistent with age and use. Professionally packed for secure international delivery.
