Rare rectangular table by french 20th century vintage designer René Malaval, a trained welder, who rose to prominence in the 1950s–60s for his inventive reuse of perforated steel sheets originally produced for the military industry. Once destined for ammunition manufacturing, these sheets were repurposed into sturdy, affordable, and strikingly modern outdoor furniture.
Produced by Bloc Métal in the 1960s, Malaval’s creations were widely used in public gardens and private terraces across France, embodying the industrial elegance of the postwar modern era.
